Upper Blepharoplasty

Request A Consultation

About Upper Blepharoplasty

Often referred to as an eyelift, an upper blepharoplasty corrects the drooping and puffiness of the upper eyelid that can make you look old, tired or sad, as well as interfere with your vision. The procedure will also address the wrinkles and creases that can begin to appear on the eyelids, leaving you looking more rested and alert.

About Upper Blepharoplasty

With aging, you may notice your upper lids feel heavy or tired. This can be caused by the eyebrow descending, upper eyelid skin excess, or both. Upper blepharoplasty is a procedure that involves the resection of redundant skin and/or musculature of the upper eyelid. This type of procedure is used mainly to improve vision loss and appearance of the eye due to aging or genetics. As the name implies, it’s focused on the upper eyelid. This type of surgery can restore the function of the eye or provide a more youthful, open appearance.

How is an Upper Blepharoplasty different than a brow lift?

Upper blepharoplasty, or eyelid lift, is distinct from a brow lift, which elevates the eyebrow. These procedures may sometimes be done together.

How will my scars look once I am fully healed?

Eyelift scars blend with the natural creases of the eyelids, so they’re less apparent. An upper-lid scar is hidden in the natural creases as best as possible.

How long before I can return to my normal activities?

An eye lift procedure alone takes less than three hours, and the recovery period is relatively brief. Expect about a week of swelling and several weeks for any bruising or discolouration to fully diminish.

Should I avoid wearing makeup?

After eyelid surgery, you shouldn’t wear makeup until 24 hours after all of your sutures are removed. It is also important to purchase new eye makeup, so you don’t risk contaminating your incisions with bacteria.

Will the shape of my eyes look different after surgery?

Eyelid surgery corrects droopy lids, sagging tissue and tired or puffy eye conditions. Corrections aside, the procedure is meant to restore youthful volume and smooth contours, but not to change the natural shape of your eyes.
